“Early and forced marriage is one of the most significant barriers to girl’s education, maternal health, female economic empowerment and the education of basic fundamental rights. In November 2011, the Hindu Women’s Organisation of T&T responded to the above statement made by Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Perth, Australia.
